Dear visitors, dear guests,

It is located 20 km south-west of county town Pilsen.
The first written record of Přeštice is from the year 1226. Přeštice was promoted to town in 1525.
Přeštice lies on the important arterial road connecting the county town Pilsen with the townKlatovy, which is a gate to the Šumava mountains. There is also a railway running through the town connecting Pilsen with Železná Ruda and it goes further to Bavaria in Germany. This railway was built in 1887 and contributed to the development of our town and local industry a lot.
The river Úhlava flows through our town.
Nowadays, Přeštice is a modern centre of wider region. It offers developed trade network for all human needs. There is a wide range of services such as financial, repair, personal hygiene, restaurants and accomodation.
There is a seat of post, land registry, police, fire brigade and other authorities and institutions, including plenty of companies from the area of service and light industry, which have both their seat and place of business here.
We have a modern school network here, three preschools, two primary schools and detached grammar school. There is also an art school which is attended by 430 pupils in courses of music, dance and fine art. We have „House for children“ where a few hunderds of children spend their free time doing various activities while their parents work.
There are offices of all important medical specialist in the town. Emergancy has its seat here too.
The town is also a natural cultural centre in the region. There is also an active woman choir Carmina, theather club Úhlavan, several Gross of majorettes and windorchestra of the art school.
Dominant feature of our town is a baroque church Nanebevzetí Panny Marie, which was built in 1750–1775 by the important europian builder Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer and it is declared national cultural monument.
Přeštice has also its important natives, who influenced history of the whole nation. It is Jakub Jan Ryba – a composer and teacher, Josef Hlávka – an architect and patron and Jaroslav Preis – a banker.
Many inhabitants participate in activities of various sport clubs such as football, national handball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, floorball, karate, canoeing, table tennis, gymnastics, aerobics and others.
There are also many hobby organizations such as huntsmen, fishermen, farmers, dog breeder etc.
Nowadays there is about 7 000 inhabitants.
To the town belong three villages – Skočice (400 inhabitants), Žerovice (200 inhabitants) and Přeštice-zastávka (100 inhabitants) for which the town makes local self-government activities.
The town Přeštice works as the centre of administration district for other 30 villages. It covers an area of 271,18 square meters and has over 21 000 inhabitants.
The near surrounding of the town Přeštice and even the whole administration district has rural character with beautiful nature and many historical sights. One third of the area is covered with forests and laced with numerus brooks. In the town itself and in the surrounding there are plenty of magnificent historical monuments and sights which are worth seeing.
For all these reasons our town is very interesting for many people who want to settle down here or just to come for a visit.
We pay attention to support of young people in our town and we do not forget our elderly too. We are particularly interested in environmental protection.
We are very glad, and that is highly important, that our inhabitants are proud of their town and they take care of it with us.
